The mission of the Trade & Customs department is ensure and manage trade & customs compliance in a manner that minimizes risk and pro-actively supports the business and contributes to an uninterrupted supply chain in the various relevant jurisdictions. The position supports the APAC management of trade compliance activities and efforts in Asia Pacific region to ensure adherence with regulations.
As part of the customs team you are responsible for continuously monitoring of (customs) laws and regulations in the relevant jurisdictions and assess the relevancy and impact of these changes for ASML. Together with your team members you are responsible for trade & customs compliance in your region. This includes managing relevant KPI’s with customs brokers and other teams involved in operational import and export process.
We expect you to stimulate and establish good working relationships at different levels with relevant government agencies, special interest groups and professional network groups and outside counsel in order to stay abreast of relevant developments
Represent ASML towards governmental agencies including audits
Provide support to affiliates in the region with operational activities and work to improve operational efficiency and facilitate the reduction of tariff and non-tariff barriers.
. Represent Trade & Customs on internal strategic trade projects with key cross-functional teams
Provide direction, deliver training, create processes and conduct monitoring on best practices related to Internal Compliance Programs and management, AEO and other compliance controls.
Provide guidance to local business personnel, assist in the development and deployment of trade compliance procedures/policies, Participate in improvement and change projects as Subject Matter Expert, representing the APAC Trade & Customs department.
- Manage interfaces, collaborate and if necessary advise logistics, customers and suppliers to ensure a flexible and compliant supply chain
The ideal candidate has an academic background (MSc+) International Trade, Supply Chain/Logistics or Legal and has a minimum of 8 years of relevant working experience in International Trade & Customs within a multinational company, law firm or a big4 consulting company.
You have extensive knowledge of customs regulation and at a minimum basic understanding of (US) export regulations. You are aware of the cultural differences in the region and are experienced in doing business in APAC. Experience with SAP GTS or a similar trade compliance system is a pre.

Context of the position
Trade compliance and risk management are key to a smooth supply chain: ultra-fast transportation networks and 36-hour delivery guarantees are no use if shipments are delayed at border crossings due to missing paperwork. Hence the Trade & Customs team is present wherever ASML is, streamlining border passage while minimizing duty and handling costs. We build and maintain relationships with both internal stakeholders and relevant government agencies and we’re managing our compliance through our state of the art Customs Control Framework.
