General Summary:

The role is responsible to actively engage in the development of a robust and executable category strategy based on commodity and macro-economic drivers and trends,. The role is also responsible for driving country of origin and vendor strategy to unlock speed, cost , innovation and flexibility. Additionally, the role will be responsible for development of strategic and analytical skill across the global Category team

Principle responsibilities:

Category Mastery & LRPs

  • Drive planning, alignment and execution of Gap Inc. Category Mastery initiatives

  • Drive translation and continuous refinement of Brand LRPs into Sourcing Strategy

  • Assessment of product strategy and critical business needs

COO strategy -

  • Responsible for assessing Country of Origin strategy and identify opportunities for migrations

  • Build long term plans by key COOs

  • Develop new COOs to unlock speed, cost and flexibility

  • Asses supply chain configuration to unlock speed and responsiveness

Vendor Strategy

  • Develop vendor selection and segmentation approach

  • Develop vendor capabilities to unlock cost, speed, innovation and flexibility

  • Build long term plans by key vendors

  • Plan and assess strategic investment / capabilities roadmaps

  • Support Gap Inc. sustainability initiatives (e.g. PACE, BCI, Water Savings

Long Term Costing -

  • Develop short/long term costing strategy that leverage our scale and buying power to negotiate

  • Identify and Implement MOU opportunities

  • Develop duty free strategy

  • Manage RFPs , in collaboration with business partners, to establish and optimize vendor/mill base

Macro Factors Management-

  • Track commodity market and analyze macro factors

  • Build and manage macro factor inputs to establish LFL targets

Key Requirements :

  • Strategy and Consulting experience – proven experience in the field of strategy or management consulting. Prior experience in Strategy consulting, retail and/or consumer products

  • Business Acumen - solid experience on supply chain knowledge

  • Educational Qualifications- Master's or Bachelor's degree in business administration, statistics, operation/supply-chain management, or related discipline

  • Planning & Organizing – proven experience in plan, prioritize and adapt to change while achieving and maintaining results for multiple projects

  • Collaboration - Proven ability to influence and make decisions cross-functionally in a matrix environment where speed and cultural sensitivity is crucial.

  • Problem Solver & Drive results - can proactively solve problems and effectively manage multiple challenges. can see a problem from multiple angles and provide viable, innovative options for resolution

  • Personal Leadership- demonstrated executive presence, presentation, influencing, and collaboration across various stakeholders

  • Business Performance Improvement – proven track record of improvement based on fact-based analysis or benchmarking

  • Excellent Communicator - proven capability to communicate and present effectively in adaption to the audience needs.

  • Analytical Skills - Possess strong data analytical skills and ability to identify trends

  • Resourcefulness - experience in managing dynamic projects that require the ability to flex as obstacles are presented
