We have an exciting new position available in Hong Kong for a qualified and experienced individual within our Hong Kong Tax team in the Finance Division.

The HK Tax team is part of the Asia ex-Japan (“AEJ”) Tax team and undertakes a variety of activities including tax compliance work, managing tax audits, reviewing products and trades, establishing and monitoring transfer pricing policies, managing tax risk and assisting in the establishment of new business lines/ventures. We also assist in the structuring of proprietary investments by the firm as well as providing advice across the firm on tax related matters. The AEJ tax team has members throughout the Asia Pacific region. We work collaboratively within the region, and also with our colleagues in Europe and the US on a day to day basis. In this role, you will gain exposure to a broad range of tax issues, some of which have global impact, and also have the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of financial markets and the investment banking world.

HOW YOU WILL FUFIL YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Dealing with tax compliance work including corporate tax, stamp duty and tax accounting for various GS entities doing business in HK and other jurisdictions

  • Dealing with tax audits

  • Dealing with day-to-day tax related questions from internal clients

  • Being involved with tax advisory work for financial products / transfer pricing issues / other firmwide projects

  • Working closely with people in different business divisions and control divisions

  • Managing tax projects across departments

  • Developing controls and performing health checks of tax processes

  • Participating in industry forums to discuss topical tax issues and advocacy activities for financial services industry

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • 3 to 5 years of HK corporate tax compliance and advisory experience with a major financial services firm or a Big 4 accounting firm

  • University graduate

  • Qualified CPA or equivalent

  • High integrity and reliability

  • Enthusiastic about being challenged on a regular basis, learning and taking responsibility

  • Strong control awareness and ability to take a global view on issues

  • Strong analytical skills & detail oriented approach to work

  • Ability to work and obtain results under pressure

  • Ability to use initiative to develop innovative solutions and suggestions

  • Ability to work effectively in a team

  • Excellent Microsoft skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Fluent in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of financial industry or financial products

  • Knowledge of HK stamp duty on share transfers

  • Project management skills

  • Tax accounting skills
