ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Directs the efforts of others in the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives of the group.

  • Manages the hiring, staffing and maintenance of a diverse and effective workforce. Responsible for career development/planning, performance and pay discussions of team members. Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems.

  • Reviews vendor capability to support development.

  • Develops, within given broad objectives, engineering proposals, and participates in project planning.

  • Assures assignments are completed on schedule and within cost objectives.

  • Provides technical direction to a group of engineers/technicians.

  • Provides resource and schedule planning inputs for assigned projects.

  • Ensures the manufacturability, reliability and serviceability of designs.

  • Directs personnel in the preparation of detailed design, testing and prototype fabrication.

  • Designs and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or production equipment.

  • Designs, develops and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages highly complex projects/programs (large number of partners, large technology count) Identifies and champions creation of new processes as necessary

  • Responsible for overseeing multiple development leaders and development programs Participates in setting the initiatives for the department, and understands the goals and objectives of the organization as a whole

  • Establishes the budget for the department, and ensures budget issues are addressed Active high-level and cross-functional participation for selection of required partners

  • Continuously seeks opportunity to maximize revenue generation

  • Drives senior leadership communication and influence

REQUIREMENTS

  • Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years management experience.

  • Ability to manage in a matrix environment

  • Ability to lead, motivate and direct a workgroup.
