Cigna Associate Director, Health Actuary in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong


Job Objective:

This position provides expert actuarial guidance and support for localindividual and group health business lines across International Markets. Responsibilities include coverage for productdevelopment, pricing and rate reviews, new market entries, establishingactuarial best practice, plus some support for strategy and businessdevelopment for health related initiatives. Close collaboration with local country actuaries, product teams andsenior management is required. The position is based in Hong Kong with periodictravel.

Job Description:

  • Support country actuarial teams in applying best practices, modelling and processes for the effective design and management of health propositions
  • Review product design, rate review and profit testing work completed by local country actuarial teams
  • Support markets in development and execution of financial plans for Health across International Markets
  • Research and development of new health opportunities and assist in market entry strategies
  • Review existing processes and/or systems and makes recommendations on process improvement or changes
  • Keep abreast of internal and external developments in the healthcare market to ensure that Cigna propositions remain relevant
  • Effectively manage external stakeholders, including actuarial consultants as necessary



  • Completion of a 4 year undergraduate program, preferably in actuarial science or closely related field
  • Fully qualified actuary with FSA, FIA, or equivalent designation is a must
  • Over 12 years of solid experience in Health Insurance Product Pricing within Insurance settings
  • Significant actuarial expertise and experience with both individual and group health products
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills, experience in presenting to management and peers
  • Commercially focused and able to balance actuarial theory with market realities
  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
  • High initiative and ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities
  • Exhibit leadership and influencing skills to recommend constructive change and obtain management buy-in
  • Strong intellectual capacity and curiosity, and a quick learner – ability to understand the business, the people supporting it, and the nuances associated with a niche business
  • Integrity, honesty, and a demonstrated capacity to take a stand and defend own position
  • Preferred candidate has experience working in a multinational corporation
  • Expected to travel up to 20%
