Cigna Head of Customer Proposition in Wanchai, Hong Kong


Reporting to the Hong Kong Chief Marketing Officer, the Head of Customer Proposition will have full P&L responsibility supporting the growth, strategic, and operational goals of Cigna HK. It is important to note that this role differs from a typical product development role in that the Customer Proposition includes incorporating marketing, distribution channel, and servicing elements into the overall proposition. He / She will engage in the formulation and execution of short to long-term strategic plans for the various customer propositions, while maintaining best practices to support Cigna HK to fulfill profitable growth objectives. He / She will be responsible for the developing of Cigna HK’s proposition strategy, the proposition and product pipeline, and enhancements to existing propositions to meet upcoming customer/ partner / broker need. The incumbent will set direction & lead the proposition development and management functions – both current & upstream (Innovation), conducting competitor and customer analysis. This role will be supported by the product actuaries and product management professionals and will work closely with Actuarial, Sales, Marketing, Customer Services, IT, Operations and Legal, to successfully execute the customer proposition strategies.

Critical Tasks and Expected Contributions/Results

· Lead Cigna HK’s product development strategies and portfolio in accordance with company’s overall business strategies

· Lead to develop, design and roll-out compelling, winning product propositions (considering all parts of the value proposition including positioning, pricing, features and benefits) which can differentiate Cigna HK from competitors by analyzing market/product environment, customer needs and regulatory environment, etc.

· Drive new product development initiatives and enhancement of existing products

· Oversee product development process - idea generation, feasibility studies, development of distribution strategy, launch and incubation of new products, piloting new products with key customers (internal/external), and make enhancement and where necessary

· Manage the complete product life cycle to meet with the identified customer proposition enabling the delivering of the key metrics

· Provide leadership, direction and develop talent for Product Development, Product Innovation and Product Management

· Provide collaborative support and input for the successful strategic execution in key initiatives

· Ensure effective collaboration to deliver the country’s business objectives with key internal business partners such as Actuarial, Finance, Operations, Marketing, Legal & Compliance Departments, etc for the best deployment of customer proposition strategies


· University graduate with at least 10 years’ experience working in product marketing and/or product development

· Experience in product development & market research in insurance or FMCG field

· Demonstrated experience in project planning and control

· Decisive with a passion for action and results and the ability to influence and guide the actions of others

· Insightful and strategic for customer trends, opportunities

· Experience of generating innovative ideas and managing the innovation process

· Strong leadership to make things happen

· Flexibility to adapt quickly to new concepts, procedures and direction

· Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese
