Job Description

Job Summary

Vans Apparel Design via ownership over a segment of the design process with a focus on product, to include conceptual direction, trends, fabrications, styling, trims, technical renderings/spec sheets while adhering to design/development calendar. Designs and develops styles for specific classifications and genders from initial concepts through pre-production to achieve accurate delivery while establishing superior fits and construction.

Key Responsibilities

Research and shop the market extensively throughout the seasons ensuring art direction is on par with trends.Complete bimonthly trend and shop reports. Responsible to participate in the visual content of trend and concept presentations. Responsible for the creation of color palette for internal and external use. Responsible for market sample organization. Prepares tech packs and art using expertise in wash and technique research and execution. Responsible for fittings from 1st proto to Salesman Samples (SMS). Responsible for meeting calendar deadlines within the creative process. Responsible for updating and organizing cad sheets for the category. Support the design needs for all departments including SMU, marketing, events, and Apparel and Accessory categories.


Proficient in computer design programs, (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign) Knowledge of fit, fabric and color. Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to lead, coach and develop staff to improve performance and achieve professional goals Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees and others with whom the company conducts business Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, procedures and other business practices, guidelines and documents
