Senior Consultant, Health, Hong Kong (SME Clients)
Provide Core Services – Core services should be provided our SME Clients. Core services include:
Attends client/team meetings. Monitor contract performance for compliance with Clients’ agreed service level agreements with the insurers/providers, including follow up checks for corrective action.
When a Client issue is raised, this position must assume responsibility for addressing the issue. Responses should address the full inquiry, anticipate the Client’s next steps and where appropriate, include commentary on other issues to consider. Where an insurer has provided a response to a query we should add value by ascertaining whether it is appropriate and make the response easier for a Client to understand by explaining jargon and abbreviations.
We should negotiate on behalf of the Client and push the boundaries to achieve better outcomes for our Clients than might be available under standard industry protocols. Owing to such, mediating with the members, HRs and insurers in ensuring the effective high quality delivery of the service.
Ensures compliance with professional standards including use of templates, client calendar, peer review, and transparency.
Assists with developing employee communications for clients. Coordinates new plan implementation process
- Responsible for establishing necessary carrier/vendor relationships with appropriate contacts to serve clients in handling all kind of administration
Marketing & renewals
- When notified a client is going out to insurance carriers to bid on health benefits, a consultant works directly with the client and manages the request for proposal (RFP) process with the health insurance carriers and internal analyst. To complete the RFP process, the consultant reviews the analyst’s compilation of the health benefits information from a variety of sources (such as hard files, electronic files, the client and carriers), responses from the carriers and the data in a spreadsheet template (customization depends on client plan types, funding, rate structure, etc.), reviews the transparency documents (compliance documents required for completion of all health and benefits work); maintain all appropriate documents in proper files.
- Reviews claim and utilization data from insurance carriers on a regular basis that has been input into a standardized report template by the analyst; analyzes and interprets data for trends
- Gathers health and benefits data from a national survey administered and published by Mercer, compares a client’s plan information (such as the benefits they offer, rates, and contributions) to other companies by industry or geography and provides this information to the client with recommendations.
BA/BS degree is preferred;
Minimum 3 - 4 years health benefit experience required;
Understanding of insurance policies and market practices;
Experience in serving large corporate clients;
Strong analytical and mathematical skills; strong command of Excel;
Fluent in speaking and writing English and Cantonese;
Ability to work with multiple teams;
Ability to work independently and on a team;
Ability to manage different issues concurrently;
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment;
Process development skills, ability to keep work flowing without problems and delays;
Able to respond appropriately even in stressful situation;
Confidence in dealing with internal staff, insurers and Clients.
