Merchandise Manager, Performance

The Merchandise Manager leads a Merchandising team to drive competitive advantage, innovation and cost savings for Gap Inc. by helping to execute the Knits vendor management strategy. The Merchandise Manager is responsible for managing vendor orders and relationships for a Knits sub-category.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing Knits vendors

  • Lead the management of orders placed with vendors ensuring complete execution and compliance (includes fabric and sample development)

  • Resolve issues within a timely manner while working to continuously improve and create internal and external processes and procedures

  • Work closely with Technical, QA and Mill Management teams to ensure all commercial decisions meet or exceed design and quality standards

  • Review and evaluate vendor performance

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years work experience in merchandising with at least 2 years leading a team

  • Bachelor’s degree in textile, merchandising, supply chain management or related discipline

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Strong planning and negotiation skills including the ability to influence at all levels

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal English)

  • Ability to manage, motivate and develop others
