Manager , Sourcing Strategy - Project Management (sourcing sustainability initiatives)

Sr. Analyst, Sourcing Strategy assists with and provides program management for several sourcing sustainability initiatives with our wet processing suppliers and mills to ensure success and efficient operations of the programs as well as appropriate scaling of some initiatives. The Sr. Analyst will partner successfully with different functions who own relationships with the suppliers, and will be responsible for driving the efficient execution of the programs and the successful completion of the projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead program management of Gap Inc.’s commitment to scaling sustainable cotton, including management of projections across multiple brands and categories

  • Lead program management of ongoing engagements with Gap Inc.’s wet processing/tier 2 suppliers, including interfacing with the service providers in China and India

  • Support program management for Zero Discharge Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) strategy

  • Build relationships with suppliers participating in the initiatives with close collaboration from manager

  • Ad hoc analysis of sourcing and sustainability data as needed to support projects

  • Own and manage regular key performance metrics and reporting for the initiatives managed

  • Support in preparing presentation documents and assist in presenting findings to all levels of management

  • Drive mapping of tier 2 supply chain and beyond through engagement with relevant suppliers and functional teams

  • Build relationships and effectively partner across varied functions to influence changes

  • Participate in cross category group meetings and activities


  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Studies (engineering, science or management), or other relevant disciplines

  • English verbal and written communication skills

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong aptitude to learn technical applications quickly

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadline

  • Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities

  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to learn and become subject matter expert quickly

  • Highly motivated; demonstrates a “can-do” approach in being proactive with work assignments

  • Experience in a dynamic organization with experience and exposure to sourcing strategies

  • Ability to interact with senior leaders and demonstrate a professional presence

  • Technical degree such as environmental engineering preferred

  • Passion for and knowledge of sustainability theory and strategy preferred
