The role will act as the support facing off to the Credit Trading business based in the APAC region This involves supporting the Credit Emerging Markets trading business in Hong Kong It will involve the ongoing support of Trader Workstation (TWS) - the strategic trading platform for management of transactions, positions, market data and risk – as well as other legacy systems used by the desk until such time as they are decommissioned Over time, TWS will be extended to support more products and to offer more functionality for the users
The main business in the region is the Emerging Markets business, based in Hong Kong – who trade and large variety of local markets products but also small volumes of more structured/exotic credit products.
This role is part of the front office application support team for the Trader Workstation as described above The team’s primary focus is the First and Second Level Support of the modules within the framework Bond & CDS Trade Capture, Bond Pricing, Position Keeping, Risk Viewing modules etc The team is across 4 regions: London, New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong.
Due to the nature of the markets the desks need to be supported from 7:00am to 7pm This is covered on a shift basis Weekend and Bank holiday support is often required – and is shared amongst the team.
This role is for a Credit Trading Production Support based in Hong Kong.
Start of Day System Checks
Rapid diagnosis of production problems and escalation to appropriate teams in a clear and timely fashion
Interfacing directly with the traders to meet their needs, (user training; issue troubleshooting; client relationship and feedback)
Coordinating deployments to UA and Production environments with partnering IT teams (release/change management)
Logging incidents in a reporting system in order track issues and create pertinent MIS
Participating in Global Production Support Calls to identify and track issues
Ownership of problems through to resolution
Documentation of new procedures
Writing scripts to automate Start of Day checks and general housekeeping
60% investigations and service requests, 30% system maintenance and deployments and 10% user training
The ideal candidate will be balanced: - evenly with IT, Business, Project, Client facing experience and skills
Excellent communications skills are a pre-requisite as the clients are traders and thus expect a premium level of service and understanding of the business, products and markets – together with a good appreciation of a Trader mindset
This is also opportunity to learn how strategic trading systems are built at a large organization, as well participate in creating a more structured approach to service, change and release management.
Banking experience is essential; preferable in one of the big financial power houses
Good knowledge of credit products.
Working on large systems with multi dependencies
Demonstrated ability to learn new business concepts and technologies quickly
Batch support experience is desirable
Some Unix and Perl scripting
Market-View and ECN Trading
- Strong academic record, ideally with a good IT degree
Excellent communicator, able to work collaboratively. The job will involve extensive interaction and collaboration with other development/support teams working on the various components of the project.
