Job Description:

McDonald’s Global People organization has an immediate opportunity for a People Lead for the Asia Business Unit and Japan business to join a talented and high performing HR team at the Director level. This position is located in Hong Kong and serves as an HR leader and thought partner.

We are seeking an experienced HR professional who can drive change and business results through the use of strong influencing skills and deep functional expertise. Specific experience with performance and talent management, compensation & benefits, organizational design, employee relations, and leadership are a must.

Minimum Requirements:

• 7-10 years HR Generalist experience, preferably at the Director/HR Business Partner level required

• Must have a heavy emphasis on Talent Management, HR Strategy, Compensation & Benefits, Org Design, and Driving Change.

• Global / regional experience preferred

• Large corporate or multi-national experience required, preferably from a multi-unit retail setting

• Bachelor Degree required

• Proven ability to interact and influence senior leaders

• Ability to successfully work under pressure and handle multiple highly sensitive issues and manage competing priorities

• English required, Cantonese fluency preferred

• 20-30% Travel required




People Strategy

•Provide people perspective into business unit’s vision, mission, strategic plan and org structure

•Adapt HR strategies into actionable initiatives that address business unit and markets needs

• Ensure the markets are fully on broad with the Global People Strategy. Consult with market leaders to build robust HR plans based on greater levels of insights and identified needs from the business unit

•Leverage the power of the Global HR function for subject matter expertise and delivery of HR support for key strategic priorities


•Contribute to a strong and connected HR leadership team to create and drive synergies

•Build HR capabilities of business unit and market leaders

•Boldly articulate a people perspective on issues, even if unpopular

•Role model behaviors congruent to a culture of change with emphasis on progress, simplicity and customer-centric response

Talent Management

• Elevate the priority of talent management in the Markets; Formalize talent management as an integral part of the business planning process

· Coach and enable leaders to build a strong talent pipeline to drive business growth

•Drive strategic workforce planning and organizational redesign

•Elevate talent discussion with focus on key business priorities, leadership and/or critical roles and high potential talent

Change Management and Culture Activation

· Be a change champion to activate the cultural pillars at business unit and market level

· Assesse the effectiveness of cultural change efforts and recommend appropriate leadership actions

Compensation Management

•Partner to identify and address opportunities to leverage compensation as a differentiator

•Provide business unit oversight to annual compensation process

•Guide compensation decisions for leadership hires and promotions

Talent Acquisition

•Collaborate with business unit and Talent Acquisition team to align on strategies to address business unit needs

•Drive quality hires at business unit and function leadership level

•Partner with business unit leader to develop robust onboarding plan for business unit team

HR Service Delivery

· Be the HR Business Partner for the Hong Kong and Singapore Global/Segment Offices to provide HR services and solutions to respective global functions and business segments
