The Walt Disney Company Senior Manager, Product Management in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong
Disney Park and Resorts Digital (DPRD), a division of the Walt Disney Company, creates world-class immersive online & mobile experiences for premier vacation brands including Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disney Resort, Disney Cruise Line and Disney Vacation Club. DPRD has offices in Los Angeles, Anaheim, Seattle, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Orlando where we design and develop results-driven websites and mobile applications.
Based in Hong Kong and reporting to a Vice President, Digital, International, the role will be responsible for responsible for driving eCommerce portfolio for the region. This position works closely with business partners in the different sites and leaders within DPRD. The ideal candidate will have both have a core understanding of product management with respect to online software development and also a deep understanding of the International digital space, especially on building the eCommrece portfolio. The position will require up to 50% travel.
Responsibilities : * Executes the digital strategic direction for DPRD’s work at Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disney Resort and Disneyland Paris.
- Executes the vision for our International digital work – through cross team and organizational leadership – by connecting multiple Guest touch points (research, feedback, etc.), technology strategy and innovation, business drivers and business value
*Partners closely with the leaders of other DPRD product lines to understand how to adapt our suite of applications for use in the International market
Manages the development pipeline and team priorities, across all disciplines, based on the established vision and strategy
Develops and maintains a dynamic and organic product roadmap necessary to influence cross-product line or cross-destination investment
Collaborates with organizations across The Walt Disney Company (Pricing, Revenue Management, Marketing, Sales, Park Operations, etc) at Shanghai Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Paris to build and manage scope expectations
*Provides thought leadership among DPRD peers and colleagues, internal Disney partners/leaders, and team members in order to drive forward our product offerings
This role is directly responsible for developing and growing the skills of various level cast members sr. product analysts, analysts and others
This role helps develop a successful product line through leadership and indirect management of various disciplines and of all development teams responsible for furthering the product line
Has a deep knowledge of online technology or travel/leisure tourism within the International markets, and understands the needs and challenges when developing digital experiences for culturally diverse, multi-lingual audiences
Develops and maintains a plan for continued testing and optimization of the product line (including revenue optimization and Guest satisfaction optimization)
Complexity of Work
The role is responsible for correlating extremely complex inputs for large product lines to create and deliver a product definition, product roadmap and vision, while ensuring internal and external team alignment and understanding
The role needs a deep understanding of the core business, as well as our digital business, financial returns, value drivers and fiscal management of large-scale complex product lines and/or projects. Negotiates valuation and funding estimates with partners and large contracts with vendors as necessary, while pushing to ensure that teams are value engineering cost effective solutions.
Leads priorities of project teams developing the products defined by their team of managers, sr. product analysts, product analysts. Spends 70% of the time providing leadership over others.
The role can have direct leadership of 3-5 Cast and 3-5 contractors writing user stories, project specs, managing backlogs. The size and scope of our projects require the sr. manager to provide leadership across many tracks of work simultaneously.
Provides strategic thought leadership and direction when working with executive-level brand partners, provides input and shapes the output of the Project Quad (Management and Executive level UX leads, art directors, technology leads, and project manager roles), and manages scope and output of vendor workstreams.
Basic Qualifications :
Minimum 8 years experience working in the online industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Deep knowledge of the International markets. Must understand travel and distribution in the region, as well as how consumers browse and shop online in the region
Knowledge of localization/globalization best practices in the online space
Experience with technical, user and business issues in a a fast moving online organization. Experience with Agile software development methodology highly desired
Exceptional verbal and written communication and project leadership skills, including an ability to communicate effectively at an executive level
Ability to effectively lead and support multi-track teams, while working collaboratively to deliver with quality on time
Ability to develop business cases and distill down research and data to identify business opportunities
Solid experience with spreadsheet analysis
Demonstrated ability to identify, understand, and drive resolution of complex critical issues
Proven ability to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, plus the ability to build strong and sustainable relationships, and the capability to interact within all levels of the organization
Ability to think strategically and drive ideas into action, with a positive outlook and willingness to take personal initiative
Bachelor’s degree required with an MBA strongly preferred
Mandarin and/or Cantonese language skills strongly preferred
Ability to travel internationally up to 50% of the time
